I have always loved dogs and when the opportunity arose for me to participate in Field Sports I acquired my first labrador. This was some fifteen years ago. Since then I have been lucky enough to own and train labradors, spaniels, and working irish setters. They have all worked either in the shooting field, (we pick up two or three days a week) or in the case of the setters, hawking on the grouse moors of Scotland. Not only have they worked, but they have also competed successfully in Field Trials.
With the formation of Jobeshill Gundogs I found people asked me to help them, and so I began to teach. I found the experience thoroughly rewarding and it has grown from there. I also take classes for Gundog Societies and teach in Europe.
I compete on a regular basis as an individual in Working Tests and Field Trials, and have represented several Gundog Clubs in their team events.
I judge working tests for various clubs, am a non-panel Field Trial Judge and have been lucky enough to be asked to judge in Scandinavia.
I am on the Committee of the Midland Gundog Society and am their Working Test Secretary.
You may not remember me but I was in your training class at Packington last year and your help has been invaluable. When walking along the lanes he now walks to heel and 'off lead' - I have never been able to do that before. Of course he still needs a gentle reminder - but a big thank you Jane and hope to see you this year - you are one of the best
The judges were helpful and patient during the tests. I was particularly grateful to one, Jane Fairclough, who took the time to find me and discuss the walk-up - Shooting Gazette Article April 2010
